As the world becomes more connected than ever before with the growth of Social Media over the last few years the Travel Industry has boomed with it. No longer is exotic adventures for Honeymoons and retired couples. Young and old alike are dreaming of once in a lifetime experiences and relying on travel professionals to help bring those dreams to life. Agent, Consultant, Planner, Advisor… Travel experts around the world are being summoned more and more each day to execute adventures that are nothing short of Instagram worthy.

So whether you are taking to the skies, rivers or the seas, here are a few reasons you need a travel professional to help with your next travel experience.
Travel is only getting more complicated!
The options of resorts, cruise ships, excursions.. its only growing daily. While it can be fun to search for ideas and inspiration for your trip, do you really want to trust your hard earned money on a resort you booked because it might have good reviews on Travel advisor or from a random Facebook group?? No way. Do you want to be in charge of booking all 10 hotel rooms for your entire extended family to travel together for Christmas? A big heck no on that one! Having a professional help with the planning, booking, and logistics can not only make your trip more enjoyable but possibly save you a bit of stress and money!
Travel professionals are on top of what is new and exciting
Even before you start seeing the trends on Instagram, travel professionals are already studying the newest trends and staying on top of the upcoming hot destinations. They will know the resorts to stay in, when to travel, and how to take your experience one step further!
They save you so much time and stress
Covered this a bit in the first one but it is a priceless perk of working with a professional. Sure, reading about places to go is fun, but planning a trip is hard work, and you never know what to truly believe. Travel professionals travel often, looking at everything, from the size of the rooms in hotels and cruise ships to the dining options on-site and nearby. If they haven’t personally been where you want to go, they know someone who has. They can answer your questions quickly and correctly.
Travel professionals have your back when you need an advocate
Here is the thing guys, shiz happens. No matter whose fault it is, whether you missed a flight because you slept in or your resort double booked your room and now you are stranded… You will want someone in your corner supporting you and guiding you on the best options to move forward. It could be just rebooking your flight or calling the resorts headquarters to fight on your behalf, your travel advisor will be there for you! So go grab a cocktail at the nearest bar and wait for them to call you back with a solution!
Travel professionals add a human element to the process
Let’s be real, booking online can be super quick and seems easy. But when you are investing your time and money into making memories, wouldn’t you rather be certain you are booking the right thing? A travel professional will take the time to learn your wants and needs when it comes to traveling and help customize a trip built just for you and not automated from a booking engine or 1-800 number.
The world is constantly changing and travel professionals are on the ground experiencing it.
Is Mexico safe to visit? What about flights to the Middle East? Should we still worry about Zika in the Caribbean? Travel professionals work daily in the industry and are kept up to date on all happenings regarding world travel. They take the time to truly experience places they recommend and if they haven’t traveled there they work with someone who has!
They often save you money – and if not, they deliver more value
Even if your travel planner charges a fee, (the really good ones typically do) then the value you receive will be bigger than what you paid. Cruise lines and many resorts get the majority of their customers through travel professionals, and so they reward them with perks to share with you.
Travel professionals really do know more than you!
Sure you can plan your own vacation. You can also cut your own hair, plan your own wedding, and do your own taxes, but that doesn’t always mean you should.
A few more thoughts…
Not all Travel Professionals are the same. Most will specialize in a specific type of travel such as Disney Destinations, Cruises, European adventures… It’s always best to go with a specialist over a general advisor when planning the big stuff like Honeymoons and large family vacations. You wouldn’t have a general surgeon perform brain surgery would you??
And finally, please don’t price shop with travel professionals. While I totally support you interviewing them to determine where you will get the best experience, keep in mind that quality here is much more important than cost. Typically the “Amazing deal” isn’t really that great.

I totally agree! I think, especially if you are spending a considerable amount of money, that the vacation should be planned and done right. I would want to know I am getting the best of the place I am visiting if I know I won’t be back there any time soon, and am a believer in letting the professional do their thing! Great post.
Travel planners definitely save me time and stress! It’s fun to research what to do and where to stay, but especially for getting value for money, it’s so helpful to have a planner.
I’ve never had a Travel planner myself, I should probably look into it when we travel abroad. Thanks for the tips!
